SAFINA Education and Care Center
is a place where children find protection, education, and joy.
What we do
It all began with a suitcase full of toys. Today, around 300 children eat, learn, and play every day, surrounded by wild mango trees, at the NGO SAFINA on the Tanzanian coast.
The local children face many challenges. Their rights are not protected, and they lack even the most basic necessities.
Our mission is to empower children and ensure their right to identity, protection, relationships, education, school materials, play, clothing, and the development of skills. For a self-determined present and future for our children! Because every child has rights, no matter where in the world they were born!

Our Services
We provide support with a hot meal a day, play opportunities, various music and sports projects, excursions, vacation trips, tutoring, and English lessons. Constant contact with the children creates a valuable relationship that allows us to protect them in cases of violence, child labor, or underage marriage! We educate the children about their rights and empower them to lead self-determined lives. The SAFINA team is pleased to be able to offer them a valuable safe space, daily hot meals, educational support, and basic healthcare.
Our vision
End child labor
Many children still work in Tanzania, even though child labor is officially prohibited. Most of them don't grow into adulthood with dignity. We're changing this by fighting for their rights and allowing them to experience empowerment while simply being children!
Protecting against violence
For many unprotected children, abuse is still a reality. Not every child is fortunate enough to grow up in a secure home. We work with caregivers and educate them about children's rights. We offer children a place of trust and protection.
Fostering Skills
If you believe in yourself, you can achieve great things. That's why we support every single child in developing their talents and abilities!
Empowerment through Education
Our children will be supported in learning English and mathematics. We will compensate for what local schools are unable to provide and prepare them for a self-determined future and present.
News
2025 is an important year for Safina Kids. New buildings are currently being built on the new site. Soon, there will be a dedicated area for toddlers, a primary school, an afterschool program, and a training center.
